APA removes homosexuality from the DSM

On December 15, 1973, the Board of Trustees of the American Psychiatric Association removed homosexuality from the DSM-II diagnostic manual. A membership vote confirmed the decision in 1974. A milestone of depathologization (the counterpart to the WHO removal in 1990).
